Group Programs

We currently offer two group programs at Salt Marsh Kayak Company;

an Eco-Scavenger Hunt done from kayaks and a Wind Challenge done on small sailboats.

Both programs place your group into small teams that compete against each other, working together in new, fun and challenging ways while outdoors in a stimulating environment.

Eco-Scavenger Hunt Program

The eco-scavenger hunt is done from kayaks and is designed to work with large groups.  No kayaking experience is necessary.

Let us divide your group into teams, add a little eco knowledge, and then turn them loose with an experienced guide to uncover the secrets of the salt marsh. Our Eco-Scavenger Hunt is done from kayaks and is designed to give large groups a chance to interact on a smaller scale in a simulating and competitive outdoor environment. No kayaking experience is necessary, but a good attitude and competitive spirit is a must!

3 hrs; easy to moderate - Guide to participant ratio will vary from 1:4 to 1:6

Pricing:  minimum # participants: 8        maximum # participants: 40

3 hr program - $65 per person plus $250 set-up fee.

Custom programs (shorter or longer) available and priced accordingly.

Optional pontoon boat for those who prefer not to kayak is available for additional fee.

Scheduling your program:  When making a reservation please consider that conditions for a scavenger hunt will vary depending on the tides.  If your scheduling is flexible, we suggest you reserve a date when the tides best suit your needs. If scheduling dates are not flexible we will customize your program to suit your group.

Mid to Low Tide: Kayaking will be at a more relaxing pace.  The sandbars and mud flats are exposed, with more wildlife and plant life available for identification.

Mid to High Tide: Kayaking will be more physically challenging.  You travel further to see the flora and fauna you are looking for and we add a navigation challenge to the hunt.

Wind Challenge Program

This program is best for small groups as we have a limited number of sailboats.

No sailing experience is necessary.

Let us teach your group how to sail, then divide them into teams and challenge them to an on-water obstacle course under the supervision of experienced sailing instructors. Our wind challenge is best for small groups of 4-10 participants as we have a limited number of small sailboats (Hobie Waves and Sunfish) and sailing instructors. No sailing experience is necessary, but a good attitude and a love of the water is a must – this activity involves a wet ride and is best done during the warmer months!

3 hrs; easy - Instructor to participant ratio will vary from 1:2 to 1:5

Pricing:  minimum # participants: 4         maximum # participants: 10

3 hr program - $75 per person  plus $250 set-up fee.

Custom programs (shorter or longer) available and priced accordingly.

Scheduling your program:

The wind challenge program is dependent on wind.  We will not sail if there are high winds or unsafe conditions. If there is little to no wind, our eco-scavenger hunt is an optional substitute activity.
